The Sacramento Kings have been the better team through the first two games of their series with the Golden State Warriors. Up 2-0, the Kings have the defending champs on the ropes and the Warriors will have to go into a must-win Game 3 without Draymond Green, who was suspended for the contest for two-stepping on Domatas Sabonis’ chest.
Ric Bucher was in favor of the suspension; on a recent episode of Speak On It, the FS1 analyst accused the NBA of “handing the series to the Sacramento Kings.”
“When I look at that incident and I look at everything involved in it, [and] the role that Damatas Sabonis played in it, can I justify that this series should be over as a result of that play?”
Butcher compared this series to 2016 NBA Finals
“Nobody should be happy about this, including the Sacramento Kings. Because this is a lot like 2016. We always questioned ‘did the Cleveland Cavaliers actually come back from down 3-1 because Draymond Green was suspended for Game 5?’
Emanuel Acho, who himself is no stranger to making some outrageously daft statements said “I won’t even entertain this.”
While playoff suspensions are certainly not the norm, Green’s suspension seems to be more based on reputation than the severity of the act itself.
